Privacy Policy

1. Overview
This is a personal professional website. It publishes writing, research and speaking information, and offers a few ways to get in touch. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit, why it is collected, how long it is kept, and what you can ask to have changed or removed.
2. Information collected
Information is collected only when you choose to provide it, or when it is generated automatically as part of normal website operation.
Contact form submissions. When you send an enquiry, the form collects the details you enter — typically your name, email address, organisation, and the message itself.
Newsletter signups. If you subscribe to updates, your email address is stored so those updates can be sent to you.
Technical and usage data. Standard information such as browser type, device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, the page that referred you, and which pages you viewed.
No special category data — such as health, political or biometric information — is requested anywhere on this site.
3. How information is used
How information is used:
To read and reply to enquiries about speaking, advisory work, research or press.
To send newsletter updates, and only to people who asked to receive them.
To understand in aggregate which writing and research is being read, so future work can be prioritised.
To keep the site secure, available and working correctly.
Personal information is never sold, rented or traded. It is not used for advertising, and it is not shared with third parties except the service providers listed below, who process it only in order to run this site.
4. Cookies and analytics
This site uses a small number of essential cookies required for pages, forms and preferences to function. It may also use privacy-conscious analytics to count page views and referring sources in aggregate, without building advertising profiles of individual visitors.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them may stop forms and embedded media from working as intended. If you add a cookie banner or a third-party analytics tool, describe it in this section.
5. Third-party services
Parts of this site rely on third-party providers. Each one processes only the data needed to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy that governs that processing.
Framer — website hosting, form handling and basic site analytics. Server logs and form submissions pass through Framer’s infrastructure.
Email and newsletter delivery — the provider used to send replies and subscriber updates stores the email addresses needed to deliver them.
Embedded media — video and audio players such as YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify or podcast embeds may set their own cookies once you press play, and may log playback on their own servers.
Scheduling and calendar tools — if a booking embed is used, the details you enter into it are handled by that provider.
Replace this list with the providers you actually use, and link to their policies where you can.
6. How contact form submissions are handled
Enquiries sent through the contact form are delivered to a personal email inbox and read by one person. They are used to answer your enquiry and, where a conversation continues, to keep a record of what was agreed. They are not added to any newsletter list unless you explicitly opt in.
7. Data retention
Enquiries are kept for as long as they are useful for the working relationship, and then deleted. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Aggregate analytics data is retained in summary form only. You can ask for anything relating to you to be deleted sooner.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:
Ask what information is held about you, and request a copy of it.
Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected.
Ask for your information to be deleted.
Unsubscribe from updates at any time, using the link in any email.
Object to analytics collection, or withdraw consent you previously gave.
Requests are answered within a reasonable period. If your visitors are in the UK, the European Union, California or another region with specific privacy legislation, name that legislation here and describe how requests are verified.
9. Children’s privacy
This site is intended for a professional audience and is not directed at children. Information is not knowingly collected from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has submitted information here, get in touch and it will be removed.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated when the site changes — for example if a new form, embed or analytics tool is added. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be summarised here rather than applied quietly.
